The permit is designated specifically for Elk Hunting Zone #1. The zone has become well-known as the most prized area in the elk hunting area on the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area north of Knoxville, TN. In addition, if the lucky recipient does not take an elk during the seven days designated for the regular elk hunt, they will be allowed to hunt for an additional seven days in any other elk hunt zone of his or her choosing.

Who can buy a raffle ticket?
Anyone 18 years of age or older may purchase a ticket. Employees and members of the Board of Trustees of TWRF and TWRA, their spouses and children are excluded from participating. Any offer to participate is void where prohibited by law.
Do I have to be present at the drawing to win?
No. You do not need to be present to win. The winners will be announced LIVE via Facebook at the TWRA Official Facebook page and also contacted individually via phone and email.
What happens to the proceeds generated by the raffle?
Proceeds from the 2019 Tennessee Elk Raffle benefit the elk restoration program in Tennessee.

Has the advertised Elk Tag been awarded in previous years?
Yes. Previously the NGO permit had been sold at auction. Last year (2018), the elk tag was raffled through TWRF for the first time.
How will winners be notified?
The winners will be announced live, via LIVE Facebook on the TWRA Official Facebook page, at the Tennessee Fish & Wildlife Commission meeting Aug… The winners will also be notified by phone and email using the contact info provided when purchasing the tickets.
Is my raffle ticket tax-deductible?
No. The IRS position is that amounts paid for chances to win in raffles, lotteries, or similar drawings for valuable prizes are wagers, and consequently do not qualify as deductible charitable contributions.
Are previous years winners still eligible?
Yes. Each year is a different raffle with different prizes.
What if I don’t like, or I am unable to accept the prize I win? Is there a cash alternative?
There are no cash alternatives to the prizes won. If a winner does not accept the prize, another winner will be drawn from the remaining tickets.
Can I be entered into just one drawing?
No. You will be eligible for all of the prizes but you cannot choose a specific prize. If you purchase more that one ticket, you are eligible to win more than one prize.
Can I win more than one prize?
Yes. If you purchase more that one ticket, you are eligible to win more that one prize. Each ticket is assigned its own number and every remaining ticket number is eligible to be drawn after the previous winning number.
Is the Elk Tag transferable?
The tag is for the 2019 season only. If the winner is unable to participate in the hunt, he or she can choose to transfer the elk tag to an eligible hunter, one time. No monetary gain can be made in the transaction. Once the tag has been transferred, it cannot be transferred again.
What are my odds of winning?
The odds of winning a raffle prize depends on the number of valid tickets sold. If fewer tickets are sold, your odds are greater.
Can I sell the elk tag if I choose not to use it?
No. The winner can choose to transfer the elk tag to an eligible hunter one time. No monetary gain can be made in the transaction.
When are the ticket purchase deadlines and drawings?

How much does a raffle ticket cost?
Raffle tickets are $20 each, 3 for $50, or 10 for $100.
How many raffle tickets will be sold?
There is no limit on the number of tickets for sale.
How many tickets can I buy?
You may purchase as many available tickets as you wish.
How do I purchase tickets?
To purchase tickets, go to www.twrf.net. You can use Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.
When will I get my ticket(s)?
As soon as your ticket(s) are purchased, you will receive an electronic email confirming your purchase. You will not receive tickets. Every ticket sold will be assigned a unique identification number. The identification number for each ticket sold will be entered into an excel spreadsheet for the electronic drawing.
Are there any special hunting regulations for the winner of this tag?
The winner will have to abide by the same rules and regulations as all Tennessee elk hunters, as set by TWRA in the 2019 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide. The winner must possess the required licenses and permits to participate in the hunt. The winner of this elk permit will be required to purchase an elk license before participating in the hunt. The resident elk license (Type 256) is $27.00, and a non-resident elk license (Type 257) is $300.00. Sportsman and Lifetime license holders are exempt from having to purchase the elk license. All other licenses and permits to hunt big game in Tennessee are required.
However, if the winner has not been successful in Zone 1 after 7 days, then all the zones will be available for an additional 7 days.
